Private chapels were once a standard in the houses of prosperous merchant families. Even the residential tower of today's Münchner Hof once boasted a private chapel on the building's second floor. A delicately painted wall column is all that remains today, faithfully supporting the roughly 600-year old wooden beam which carries the ceiling to this very day.
