14.4 | Sapphire Room

         A room for every mood

The room's radiant blue color glows just like sapphire glass. The blue glass of the 12th Century was famous for its outstanding quality, the most famous example being the "Bleu de ciel" (sky-blue) used in the cathedral windows of Chartres and Saint-Denis. The particular radiance of this precious – even in the material sense – "sapphire" glass, with its especially brilliant hues of blue, is due to the glass's higher transmissibility for the red segments of the color spectrum.
